As part of the month-long Gaur Purnima festivals at Sridham Mayapur, ISKCON Daiva Varnasrama Ministry (IDVM) organized a two-day Global Varnasrama Seminar on the 14th and 15th of March 2016. A group of devotees from India and other parts of the world participated.
On the 14th morning the session began with a melodious Hare Krishna kirtan. H.H. Bhakti Raghav Swami, Minister for IDVM-India, commenced the session with a presentation on the FOUR Waves of ISKCON. His Holiness emphasized more on the 4th wave which is “Varnasrama Dharma.” In the second session lead by Hari Kirtan prabhu presented on Preaching dimensions in Varnasrama Dharma. In the afternoon session Radha Madhav Prabhu spoke on Gomata – BLISS a self-sufficiency project undertaken by ISKCON Vrindavan and in the last session Hari Kirtan prabhu and Ram Lakshamn prabhu jointly presented “Sri Govinda Gau Gram Prachar Yatra” undertaken by IDVM as an offering to Srila Prabhupada on the occasion of ISKCON’s Fifty Years celebrations. The Yatra is an out-reach program scheduled to travel to 108 villages; so far IDVM has covered around 67 villages.

On the 15th morning session H.H. Bhakti Raghav Swami presented on “OM Sri Surabhi Campaign” a joint initiative of IDVM and Cow Protection Ministry for India, A twelve-year marathon campaign to protect mother cow starting from 2015 to 2027. The second session was taken up by Krishna Balaram prabhu, an expert bee keeper, presented on Bee-keeping techniques. In the noon session Pankajanabh prabhu spoke on preaching efforts to Assam tribal villagers. In the final session of the two-day seminar H.H. Bhalti Raghav Swami showed a video on “OM Sri Surabhi campaign”.
Kamal prabhu from Mayapur suggested that these kind of seminars be organized regularly; Ajeeth Pramlall from South Africa felt that his understanding of Varnasrama dharma is now more clear; Sidda Balaram prabhu from Hyderabad suggested to record more number of devotees’ interviews related to this topic, Rati Madhuri devi dasi from Bangalore suggested that all city devotees should go out and start preaching in the villages.
