“One must have some attachment.” Prabhupada explained, “In the city there are so many artificial attachments, so on what grounds will they remain in the village? There must be some higher taste, some better, more attractive alternative, which can be obtained through the chanting of the Holy Name. Chant as much as possible and take prasadam. There is no education required, no philosophy required. But follow CaitanyaMahaprabhu’s instruction and become guru: yare dekha, tare kaha ‘krsna’-upadesa, amaraajnaya guru hanatara’ eidasa. The basic principle is this: Induce them to chant and take prasadam. You will be successful.”

As everybody settled, Maharaj began kirtan in his characteristic slow meditative way. Mesmerized, the villagers followed the Holy Names, as sung by Maharaj. After the kirtan, Maharaj began his class. HariKirtanprabhu kept translating His Holiness’ lecture into Telugu language for the eager audience.Maharaj gave a wonderful lecture on the importance of chanting His Holy Name; enchanting pastimes of the Supreme Lord Krishna in Vrindavan, especially Damodarlila;the abundance of milk, butter, ghee, other milk products in Vrindavan; His love for cows and His devotees. Connecting them he explained a human being’s sva-dharma (both at material and spiritual planes) and gave the message of making every village like Vrindavan – Make Vrindavan Villages – whereeveryone followed their sanatan dharma of loving the Supreme Lord – savaimanahkrsna-padaravindayor.He beautifully explained how villages are the citadels of civilization and culture – the Vedic culture. He urged the villagers to not to migrate to the cities, and rather remain in the village following their dharma. He proposed that the village be registered under their two-pronged plans of Harinam Sangha and Krsi Go Raksha Sangha, while sharing with them how the Sangha would help them balance their material and spiritual dharma and requirements. Then he concluded by making everybody chant collectively and loudly – Hare Krsna Hare KrsnaKrsnaKrsna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. He made his statements more effective by screening a documentary movie titled Gau Adharit Jivanam (Life based on Cows). It provoked everybody to think and redefine their lives around Lord Krsna and His favourite – the Cows. He gave practical tips how one can be involved in goseva by taking simple steps in our daily lives like using panchgavya products, using bullocks instead of tractors, using cow dung as manure / pesticide in the fields instead of chemical fertilizers, opting for organic farming and taking care of them till their last breath. Interestingly, the villagers requested Maharaj to give his autograph on the books that they had taken. He assented and signed on 100s of books. A good quantity of panchgavya products were also purchased by them.
The program was near conclusion. The prayer to Lord Damodar or Krishna in the form of Damodarashtakam was sung by Gour Gopal prabhu, in which all the village inhabitants participated. They tried to offer their heart and soul to Lord Krishna in the form of lamps to Him. The curtain was brought down with the final but most delicious part of the program – prasadam.
