The first day was dedicated to topics of the Ministry itself, the second to the OM Sri Surabhi Campaign and the third to discussions about Varnasrama Teacher Training. At the end of the Mid-term Meetings, the group had identified four main Top Goals on which the Ministry will focus in the months to come.
The First Top Goal will be to follow through on the program ADOPT A VILLAGE by officially adopting 50 villages in different parts of India by the end of December 2016. This will be one of the Ministry’s offering to Srila Prabhupada to help commemorate the Golden Jubilee event of ISKCON’s foundation in 1965. Heading up this undertaking will be His Grace Hari Kirtan prabhu who serves as IDVM-India National Director for Rural Development. For each village we are seeking pledges from supporters and already we have identified 15 such villages to be adopted. Details of the program can be found on our website at www.srisurabhi.org.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_text]
Our Second Top Goal will be to take up a colorful GO-GRAM YATRA by systematically touring 108 villages within the Nalgonda District in the newly formed State of Telangana. This will be undertaken by His Grace Sripati prabhu who put forth the proposal. It so happens that four of our IDVM Ministry members are from this district so they will automatically form a committee to carry this through. Undoubtedly some of those villages may well become eligible for our Adopt A Village program. One special feature of this outreach program will be to fulfill Srila Prabhupada’s expressed desire to visit villages by car to help bring awareness for cow care and simple village life by offering spiritual guidance to the local villagers.
The Third Top Goal will be to establish at least 50 models of ideal Goshalas within ISKCON India where the minimum standards of cow care are followed and Krishna’s cows are properly protected. This will be taken up by His Grace Damodar Dulal prabhu who serves as the Minister for Cow Protection in ISKCON India. Already Damodar Dulal prabhu has been actively travelling to different parts of India for the purpose of educating and helping raise the local standards.
The Fourth Top Goal will be to come out with four main video documentaries. Our National Director for Varnasrama Media Production, His Grace Jananivas prabhu, will take this up. One of the DVDs will be entitled MAKE VRINDAVAN VILLAGES, an up-dated version of the one already produced two years ago. The second DVD will be entitled SAVE OUR COWS, SAVE OUR VILLAGES, an up-date of a similar documentary released some years back by VMP. The third DVD will be an eleven in one Video covering all the previous DVDs produced by the Ministry as they were produced from years 2008 till 2012. Our last documentary will be a series of 50 interviews taken by ISKCON devotees from around the world on the topic of daiva varnasrama and the OM Sri Surabhi Campaign.
IDVM-India members also selected His Grace Gour Gopal prabhu, National Director for Communications at IDVM-India to take up the publishing of the Ministry’s Monthly publication, Make Vrindavana Villages.
Many other topics were discussed and in the months to come many of these will be known through the various activities of both the Ministry and the OM Sri Surabhi Campaign.
At the end of the 3 days Conference, the organizers of the IDVM-India Mid-term meetings expressed their deep appreciation to the host for the meetings, His Grace Hari Kirtan prabhu and his team of wonderful devotees.
