(Based on the information provided by H.G. Hari Kirtan Das)
HG Hari Kirtan Prabhu, the Director for Rural Development, ISKCON Daiva Varnasrama Ministry– India, recently organized Varnasrama College in three phases, first in Chirala, second in Kamyavan farm and the third one in Vishvamangal Goshala. There were 30 students who participated in the Varnasrama College. Since it was summer vacation, the students came from different age groups starting from 7 years up to 25 years old.
The college included the courses on Bhagavad Gita application, moral stories, tree climbing, making japa malas and kanthi malas from Tulsi tree. There were many more interesting activities like stitching, Caraka usage, dhoop stick making from the cow dung, making natural water filter, Vedic cooking – cooking with the firewood and cow dung cakes in the earthen pots, painting with natural colours, and also there was some traditional sport for the kids in the evening. The students were also engaged in serving mother cow.
Apart from this, there were also some special sessions given by different devotees:
1. HG Ananta Tirtha Prabhu on “Cow Based Agriculture Practice”
2. HG Lakshmi Narasimha Prabhu and Vishnutattva Prabhu on “Jyotirveda”
3. Sriman Venkatesh on “Panchagavya”
The students were so enthusiastic to participate in this Varnasrama College that some of them said that this was one of their best times in life. This was because they had got connected to Mother Nature and could explore their natural skills. Here they could learn so many things that are never taught in the modern school.
This Varnasrama College tries to revive the Vedic way of living which is in harmony with mother nature. The modern way of living simply trains people to become more and more greedy and crooked minded.
“This is the most important item. Because people have been spoiled all over the world by being misguided by the so-called leaders. Therefore, Varnasrama College is required. Hare Krsna”
– Srila Prabhupada on Morning Walk — March 14, 1974, Vrndavana.
Varnasrama College concluded with a traditional Samavartana (graduation) ceremony. The ceremony included students offering dakshina to teachers and teachers giving blessings to the students.
We thank HG Hari Kirtan Prabhu and his team for their hard work to make this Varnasrama College successful for the pleasure of Guru and Krishna.
