SOLAR PANELS FOR GURUKULA
This month of January brought light to the Gurukula complex. For close to one year the Gurukula has been without light. We thank Kurushrestha Prabhu and Smitha Krishna Prabhu for inspiring donors to donate a complete set of solar panels and lights that make the early hours before Mangala Aratika easier to maneuver.

SURABHI AND BALARAMA JOIN GURUKULA
The oldest serving cow and bull, Surabhi and her brother Balarama, both Kapila cows donated to devotees at SSKBK some 15 years ago, have been kind enough to come to Sahyadri Parasurama Gurukula to be cared for in their old age by our Gurukula boys. Mother Surabhi holds the record for having delivered over 10 calves while serving at SSKBK. They were both donated by devotees from Udupi who related how before leaving their home, both had gone over to their mother as if to hear some last-minute instructions from her. Serving cows daily with love and affection is another pillar that upholds the Vedic culture and when performed nicely attracts the mercy of Govinda Gopal.

STUDY TIME AT GURUKULA
In addition to various daily chores and responsibilities, our Parasurama Gurukula boys spend time in academics as well. They have the good fortune of having Kurushrestha Prabhu (from Jharkhand) as their Principal as well as Amar Krishna Prabhu (from Maharashtra) as their teachers, both graduates from university.

IT’S TIME FOR YOGA PRACTICE
Our boys take Yoga classes daily, sometimes under the direct guidance of our Master Yoga Teacher, His Grace Prananath prabhu when he is present, otherwise under the guidance of one of their teachers, such as Amar Krishna prabhu. By performing daily exercises at the Yoga Shala in front the Surya Narayana Shrine, our Gurukula boys get to take in the early sunshine that helps them to keep healthy and get the mercy of Surya Narayana to help make them not only healthy, but healthy and wise.

BRING IN THE GRASS
Our boys helped to carry the dry grass that was then stored on top of the Goshala loft with the help of Dhurlabha Krishna Prabhu. Our bull Balarama was especially pleased with the arrival of the dry grass. In addition to this grass, Surabhi and Balarama get to take daily some of the fresh elephant grass that is cut and prepared by Raghu Mishra Prabhu.

SPECIAL FEAST FOR COWS & COWBOYS
A family sponsored for a special feast for the cows during the month of January at SSKBK Surabhi Goshala. Devotees prepared 1,000 ladoos to the delight of the cows ( and the Gurukula boys as well). After performing Gopuja and circumambulating the cows, the boys had great fun feeding all the cows to their heart’s content. Once the cows were fully satisfied our two brahmanas serving at SSKBK, His Grace Rama Laksman prabhu and His Grace Smitha Krishna prabhu, began to feed our Gurukula boys. All honored Prasadam to their full satisfaction.

LAKSMI COLLECTION WITH A SMILE
Our Gurukula boys are enthusiastic to collect the cow dung that is deposited daily by the 50 or so local cows cared for at SSKBK and then carry it to Sahyadri Parasurama Gurukula at Goloka Dhama to nourish their Gurukula Garden. In this way the yard is kept clean at SSKBK and the gardens get added supplement at the Gurukula Garden, a win win situation for all.
