The residents of Udupi District will be pleased to know that very close to the town of Hebri, a group of Hare Krishna devotees are developing a project they have named as Sahyadri Goloka Dhama. The novel initiative features three distinct sub-projects that include 1) the Sahyadri Yoga Shala, 2) the Sahyadri Saura Vana and 3) the Sahyadri Parasurama Gurukula.

            On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, the first phase of the Sahyadri Parasurama Gurukula was completed with the opening of the Bhakti Kutir, a circular structure built partially using local materials with the help of local workers who are knowledgeable about cob construction. The Sahyadri Parasurama Gurukula will offer residential students the opportunity to learn the four ancient sciences of Catur Vidya based on Canakya’s Kautiliya Arthashastra. The Gurukula will be operational in the early part of the new year 2021.

            Also in the planning is the Saura Vana where three natural forests will be set up featuring 1) the Nava Graha Vana, 9 planet related trees, 2) the Dwadasa Rashi Vana, 12 zodiac related trees, and 3) the Saptavimshati Nakshatra Vana, 27 star relate trees, the. Also featured will be the Surya Narayana Mandira where visitors and students coming on pre-arranged educational tours will be able to circumambulate all three forests for both spiritual and health benefits. The Sahyadri Saura Vana is expected to open to the public in the early part of February 2021.

            The third project yet to begin will be the Sahyadri Yoga Shala and Nature Cure Centre that will provide on-going classes, courses and treatment in Yoga and Natural medicines. This facility will be operational sometime during the middle of year 2021.
