The Cow Culture Conference was held at Gita Nagari Baru Village, Lampung on September 29, 2018. The conference was organized in collaboration with several parties, including the Management of the Gita Nagari Baru Village, Gau Raksya Indonesia (GAURI), and the OM Sri Surabhi Campaign. The conference was attended by 200 local devotees of Gita Nagari Baru and several devotees who came from outside the village. The inspiration for it came from the Cow Culture Conference which was held in California, USA, in May 2018.

The Cow Culture Conference at Gita Nagari Baru Village began with Go-Puja or the ceremonial worship of Mother Cow at the Bhadravan Forest. The devotees attended the ceremony led by H.H. Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja. After the Go-Puja the devotees headed to the conference location, namely the Gita Nagari Baru Village Office.

I moderated the conference and started by welcoming all guests who came from various regions and various countries. Then I paid homage to the speakers, namely H.G. Kisora Krsna Prabhu, H.G. Prananath Prabhu, H.G. Madhava Prabhu & H.H. Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja. Each speaker had prepared different material. There were also local Hindu community leaders who attended the conference and wanted to know more about the cow culture.

H.G. Kisora Krsna Prabhu spoke first. He elucidated about Gau Raksya Indonesia (GAURI), a cow protection organization in Indonesia. He presented photographs of activities carried out by GAURI for the past 3 years to support the OM Sri Surabhi Campaign in Indonesia. Next, H.G. Prananath Prabhu spoke. He talked about the extraordinary the efficacy of milk. He also explained about the importance of butter and ghee in human diet from Ayurveda. A sample of Ghee, locally produced, was sent out to the audience for them to get a feel of fresh homemade ghee.

H.G. Madhava Prabhu continued the session by speaking on the role of cows in sustaining civilization. He explained the of cows in maintaining the stability of human life, starting from the stability of the soil, water, and other natural resources. The last session was a presentation from H.H. Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja entitled “Modernity is Killing Civilization”. The presentation title was taken from His Holiness’ latest book which relates to the research he is doing. In the presentation, His Holiness presented global statistics on the negative impacts of modernization. Some literary evidence was displayed to complement the statistical data. Which explained why cow protection must be the most important culture in human civilization. When cows are protected, the brahmanas are automatically protected & when the brahmanas are well protected, the whole world will be protected.

Before the event closed, there was a question and answer session. Some questions were especially around cow milk. The discussion became even more interesting with the extraordinary exposure of the speakers. Until finally after the discussion session ended. The event was held to further encourage devotees to protect cows and develop Vedic culture.
