A good news comes from Yogyakarta, Indonesia. A few days ago, banana garden in Narayana Smrti Ashram was got harvested. The garden that is taken care of the residents of the ashram finally showed the result. The garden is located in the ashram areal. It is not a big garden, but the brahmacaris give it special attention. The residents of the ashram are mostly college student, so they have to arrange their daily schedule for balancing their college and ashram life very well.
Located in the downtown of Yogyakarta, having a garden like this is a rare sight. Open fields are changing into buildings. Despite the city atmosphere, the banana plants grow in good health. It is not a secret that devotees are using only cow dung as the fertilizer of their plants. So that, soil contamination from chemicals can be reduced.
Narayana Smrti Ashram owes cows. The dung of the cow, next, will be processed into organic fertilizer. The result is the banana trees give big and healthy fruits. All crop from the garden is an offering to the Lord. So that, devotees finally can taste the sweetness of the maha prasadam.
Enjoy the result from our own garden must bring special happiness. May this can motivate devotees in another ashram in Indonesia and even around the world to be more eager to establish their own organic garden, and use cow dung only for the fertilizer. So that, we can slowly heal our planet earth by the mercy of Mother Cow.
Hare Krishna!
