HH Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja has succesfuly raised some funds from different parts of the world to expand the land at Yashodapura Eco Village, Cambodia. Our project is located about 50 kms from the Angkor Wat temple near Siem Reap.

Recently we purchased another 10 hectares of dry land out of which half (5 hectares) is forest. So totally now we have 35.8 hectares of dry land and 3 hectares of wet land for growing rice. We would like to get another 5 hectares of wet land so that the total land will come to 43.8 hectares or over 108 acres which is an auspicioue number in our Hare Krishna movement.

Our 108+ acres will now be sufficient to build a small Vedic Village that will serve as a Pilot Project where we will have a goshala (to keep cows), agriculture fields, community housing, a temple, a gurukula (school for boys), some protected forests, a Yoga Shala, and an Ayur Vedic Clinic. We plan to develop these services in phases expectig that they will remain for many years to come since Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s mission, as mentioned in the sastras, will introduce the congregational chanting of the Hare Krishna Maha manta and spread it to all towns and villages for the next 10.000 years.

Our present land developments are within about 15 hectares of forest land, the rest of our land being bushes and agriculture fields. The previous owners still have some contract with the villagers who grow cassava on some portion of our land. Starting next year however, we plan to discontinue growing cassava because it is inorganic, and as we all know, machine and chemicals are detrimental to mother earth. For those villagers who will like to grow organic crops we wiil support them and work with them as our project partners. Our Yashodapura Eco Village has been established to help poor families become self-sufficient by growing their own food and at the same time by introducing the spiritual process of Bhakti Yoga, devotional service to The Suprame Lord Vishnu, Sri Krishna.

Every week, devotees travel from our basecamp in Siem Reap to the land to introduce various outreach programs. We regularly distribute prasadam to the local villagers and spent time growing food during the rainy season as well. This year the devotees have grown crops such as black beans, long beans, corn, bananas, sponge gourd, ladies finger, and bananas. With the help of two villagers the devotees from Siem Reap clean around the mango trees, jack fruits trees, and pineapples. Sometime during the fullmoon we conduct Go Puja to our neighboring cows. We allow our neighbors’ cows to graze our our land, in exchage we get some cow dung for our fields. We hope that soon will have devotees who can stay permanently on the land so that we can finally be able to take care of our own cows.

Our future plans include growing more food, taking care of cows, and having more local families, especialy devotee families, staying permanently on the land. Our goal is to produce large quantities of food so that we can achieve self sufficiency and some surplus we can sell to the market. In this way we can support our temple construction and the children’s education. We regularly bring fire-wood to the basecamp in Siem Reap in order to reduce uthe sage of costly and dangerous gaz containers for cooking.

For this growing food program our devotees will need 1) more agriculture tools (about $ 50), 2) Weekly Travel Expense ($20), and 3) One cow ($ 500). We pray for the blessings of Lord Krishna and His devotees.

HH Bhakti Raghava Swami Maharaja telah berhasil mengumpulkan dana dari berbagai belahan dunia untuk memperluas lahan di Yasodapura Eco Village, Kamboja. Proyek kami ini berlokasi sekitar 50 km dari kuil Angkor Wat di dekat Siem Reap.

Baru saja kami membeli 10 hektar lahan kering yang mana setengahnya ( 5 hektar ) adalah hutan. Jadi keseluruhan lahan yang kami punya sekarang yaitu 35,8 hektar lahan kering dan 3 hektar lahan basah untuk menanam padi. Kami akan mendapatkan 5 hektar lagi lahan basah sehingga totalnya akan menjadi 43,8 hektar atau lebih dari 108 akre yang merupakan angka mujur dalam gerakan Hare Krishna kita.

Tanah kami seluas 108+ akre ini sekarang cukup untuk membangun Desa Vedic kecil yang akan berfungsi sebagai Pilot Project dimana kami akan memiliki Goshala ( untuk memelihara sapi – sapi ), lahan untuk bertani, penduduk, kuil, sebuah gurukula ( sekolah untuk anak laki-laki ), hutan – hutan yang terlindungi, sebuah Yoga Shala, dan sebuah Klinik Ayurveda. Kami berencana membangun layanan ini secara bertahap, berharap ini akan mempertahankan misi Tuhan Caitanya Mahaprabhu sejak kedatanganNya, seperti yang disebutkan dalam sastra – sastra Veda, memperkenalkan pengucapan Hare Krishna Maha Mantra beramai – ramai dan menyebarkannya ke seisi kota dan desa sampai 10.000 tahun mendatang.

Pengembangan lahan kami kini mencakup 15 hektar lahan hutan, dan sisanya merupakan semak dan lahan pertanian. Pemilik lama masih memiliki kontrak dengan penduduk yang menanam singkong di sebagian lahan kami. Bagaimanapun, mulai tahun depan kami berencana menghentikan penanaman singkong ini karena tidak organik, dan seperti yang kita tau, mesin – mesin dan bahan kimia merusak ibu bumi. Bagi penduduk desa yang ingin menanam tanaman organik, kami akan mendukung dan membantu mereka sebagai rekan dalam proyek ini. Setiap minggu, para penyembah melakukan perjalanan dari basecamp di Siem Reap ke lahan ini untuk memperkenalkan berbagai program keluar. Secara teratur kami menyebarkan prasadam kepada penduduk lokal dan menghabiskan waktu menanam bahan pangan selama musim hujan. Tahun ini para penyembah menanam kacang hitam, kacang panjang, jagung, pisang, luffa dan okra. Dengan bantuan dua orang penduduk, penyembah dari Siem Reap membersihkan sekitar pohon mangga, pohon nangka dan nanas. Kadang, saat purnama kami melaksanakan Go Puja kepada sapi sekitar. Kami membolehkan sapi – sapi tersebut merumput di lahan kami, dan sebagai gantinya kami mendapatkan kotoran sapi untuk menyuburkan tanah. Kami berharap secepatnya ada penyembah yang bisa tinggal permanen di lahan ini, jadi kami bisa merawat sapi – sapi kami sendiri.

Rencana kami yaitu menanam lebih banyak bahan pangan, memelihara sapi – sapi dan memiliki lebih banyak keluarga lokal, khususnya keluarga penyembah, tinggal dan menetap di tanah ini. Tujuan kami adalah menghasilkan jumlah makanan yang besar, sehingga dapat mencukupi kebutuhan sendiri dan sisanya dapat dijual di pasar. Cara ini dapat membantu pembangunan temple dan pendidikan untuk anak – anak. Kami secara teratur membawa kayu bakar ke basecamp di Siem Reap dengan tujuan mengurangi dampak dari mahal dan bahayanya penggunaan gas untuk memasak.

Untuk program penanaman ini, para penyembah memerlukan 1). Lebih banyak alat- alat pertanian (sekitar 50 dolar), 2). Biaya perjalanan mingguan (20 dolar), dan 3). Seekor sapi (500 dolar). Kami berharap karunia dari Krishna dan juga para penyembahNya.
