Addition of resources and the simple presence of Maharaj had an electrifying impact on the Yatra devotees. Maharaj, who was instrumental in single-handedly cultivating more than 1200 namahatta centers in the interior villages of Orissa and Bengal, inspired all the Yatra devotees. The stories of His Holiness cycling alone to different villages with a bundle of books behind him and on just one leg (as the other one was polio-affected) sent waves of energy in every one of them. It is surprising how Maharaj communicated with the villagers (who know no language other than their regional dialect) despite being born in an alien soil in Canada! He appreciated ISKCON and its Founder-Acarya His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada for spreading the Harinam – the transcendental sound vibration of Hare Krsna Hare Krsna Krsna Krsna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. He offered his every possible support to Lord Jagannath’s shobhayatra and the Yatra’s theme of reviving Krishna-consciousness, of bringing awareness of importance of gomata, revival of our relationship with gomata, Lord Govinda and Bhumidevi.
His Holiness Bhakti Raghava Swami led the kirtan in his characteristic meditative way, slowly absorbing the people into the mystic depths of Harinam. From there he took off to explain a living entity’s svadharma (eternal spiritual dharma for the soul as servants of the Supreme Lord Krishna) and varnasrama dharma (material dharma with respect to the body one is in according to its guna). He explained in detail how the observance of these dharmas keep a person well protected, both materially and spiritually. This was followed by a lecture on cow- and land-based Krishna-centric life. He gave an insight into the role of mother cow in our lives and importance of cow protection in our material and spiritual lives. In the process, he brought out the importance of organic farming and go seva which took care of their observance of both the dharmas. The villagers attentively listened to his words and requested ISKCON to visit their village more often.
HG Hari Kirtanprabhu in his typical way came out with extempore skit on the subject titled, “My Village, My Gomata, MyGovind”. As other devotees like HG Siddha Balaram prabhu participated and staged the play, the message of cow protection, goseva, organic farming reached every villager in a very effective way. They easily brought out the wonderful effect of making and using panchgavya products in one’s lives.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”no” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ class=”” id=””][fusion_separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”20″ bottom_margin=”” sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” class=”” id=””/][fusion_imageframe lightbox=”yes” lightbox_image=”http://www.srisurabhi.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/22901574981_b6604c877b_o.jpg” style_type=”bottomshadow” bordercolor=”” bordersize=”0px” borderradius=”0″ stylecolor=”” align=”center” link=”” linktarget=”_self” animation_type=”0″ animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”1″ hide_on_mobile=”no” class=”” id=””] [/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_2″ last=”yes” spacing=”yes” center_content=”no” hide_on_mobile=”no” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position=”left top” border_size=”0px” border_color=”” border_style=”” padding=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”” animation_speed=”0.1″ class=”” id=””][fusion_text]HG Jananivasprabhu screened a Telugu movie supporting the theme of cow protection, called Gau Adharit Jivanam (Life Based on Cow). He also shed light on how each and every person can participate in protection of mother cow. He told how our small decision of shifting to the usage of panchgavya products instead of other chemical products can save lakhs of cows from being slaughtered every day. He also addressed the farmers and youth, sharing with them how the usage of cow dung and bullocks in farming besides the goseva can revolutionize agriculture with sustainable productivity and fertility. All the people present on the occasion (more than 250) pledged to protect Mother Cow as HG Rama Lakshman prabhu read out the “Sacred Oath” to them. To this Maharaja suggested them to register their region under any of the two newly launched plans:
- Hari Nam Sangha: This was more like already existing Namahatta centers which would allow them to receive basic spiritual training- chanting and following the four regulatives.
- Krsi Gau Raksha Sangha: This was direct registration under the IDVM-India. This was wider in scope than the previous one and allowed both the varnasrama training as well as spiritual training.
Once again the books sold like hot cakes. Rupanuga prabhu happily distributed about 70 maha-books and 130 small books of Srila Prabhupada besides loads of Panchgavya products.
Another successful village preaching program was on the verge of winding up as Gour Gopal prabhu rendered Damodarashtakam (the trademark of holy Kartik Mas) in his sweet voice. All the people with no exception offered ghee lamps to Lord Damodar in a reverential mood before partaking the sumptuous prasadam.
